Over three fun filled days in August, PEB’s scientists from the University of Adelaide captured the curiosity of the crowds and connected with a younger generation, as well as many curious parents, on the importance of plants, their needs, and the future challenges that the plant industry is facing.
1,800 take-home PEB plant salinity experiments were performed and countless discussions had. It is safe to say that we have a promising future leaving plant challenges in the hands of the next generation who showed themselves to be environmentally and scientifically conscious, and as inquisitive and curious as ever.
Science Alive! was an initiative launched in 2006 by the SA Coordinating Committee of National Science Week. 14 years on, it has only become bigger, better, and more anticipated by the community. This year’s event was held over two full days for the public, plus a day for local schools, with over 60 interactive exhibits to ignite the inquisitive minds of the South Australian public. PEB shares the passion of Science Alive! in celebrating science and technology, and communicating how it has and continues to benefit society.
