Barry Pogson announced 2019 finalist for Eureka Prize for Outstanding Mentor of Young Researchers

Plant Energy Biology’s Professor Barry Pogson has been announced as a finalist for the University of Technology Sydney Eureka Prize for Outstanding Mentor of Young Researchers.

Professor Pogson from The Australian National University (ANU), is the deputy director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology, where he leads the Pogson Group.

The University of Technology Sydney Eureka Prize for Outstanding Mentor of Young Researchers is awarded to an individual who has helped develop the next generation of Australia's scientific researchers. This is the second year in a row that Professor Pogson has received a nomination.

Professor Pogson's vision is to create a nexus of researchers, industry leaders and policy makers that collectively shape agriculture for the benefit of global food security. He has a significant impact on the personal development, career prospects and learning experiences of students at all tertiary levels.

The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes are the country’s most comprehensive national science awards, honouring excellence across the areas of research & innovation, leadership, science engagement, and school science.

The Eureka Prize winners will be announced on Wednesday, 28th of August 2019.
